Woodchips for Energy Purposes

Alasia Franco Woodchips for Energy Purposes

Woodchip is wood reduced to chips ranging in size from a few millimeters to a few centimeters. It is produced thanks to appropriate equipment and it can be used as fuel or raw material for natural or industrial processes.

Short rotation forestry (SRF) is the quickest system (2 years) for the production of large volumes of woodchip for energy purposes. Tables 1 and 2 show the clones that are currently available at our headquarters, suitable for the production of this derived product (AF18, Moniso), as well as the countries where their cultivation is feasible.
We are currently able to produce from 250,000 to 400,000 tons of base material for each establishment; such amount can be increased upon request.
