Pellet is a biofuel thickened in a cylindrical shape, whose length is typically between 5 mm and 30 mm, with cut ends, produced from chips and sawdust. Lignin, naturally contained in wood, has a binding capacity that allows to obtain a compact product without having to use additives and chemical products. From its processing we can therefore obtain a high-performance natural fuel that, thanks to pressing, is characterized by a heat value that is much higher than that of wood.
Short rotation forestry (SRF) is the quickest system (2 years) for the supply of material for the production of industrial pellet. The same product can also be obtained by means of less dense crops with a longer cutting cycle, medium rotation forestry (MRF), which allow for a higher-quality final product.
Tables 1 and 2 show the clones that are currently available at our headquarters, suitable for the production of pellet (AF3, AF16, AF18), as well as the countries where their cultivation is possible.
We are currently able to produce from 250,000 to 400,000 tons of base material for each establishment; such amount can be increased upon request.
